Why the scholarship exists
One conversation can change the direction of a life
Some people lose their dream job in the English interview. Some arrive in a new country and cannot tell the doctor how they feel. Some have never left their hometown and dream of talking to the world.
Almost always, what keeps these people from a language is not ability. It is access: money for a course, time for classes, someone to practice with.
Our mission is to make the whole world speak the same language, the language of knowledge. So part of what we build goes to those who need it most, with no fine print.

The scholarship is for people with the drive but not the means right now

- People looking for a job or a career change
- Immigrants and refugees who need the language of their new country

Is the scholarship really free?
Yes. We do not ask for a card and there are no charges later.
How long does it last?
The length comes in the approval email and applies to the cycle you were selected in.
Can I nominate someone else?
Yes. Write to us with their story, with their permission.
When will I hear back?
We reply to every application by email at the end of each selection cycle.
